About

Registered Psychotherapist | Registered Social Worker

I am a clinical member and supervisor in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in the Conversational Model (CM) through the Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy(ANZAP). I am a member of ANZASW and SWRB.

Background

I worked in the public service (CYF, CDHB and Department of Corrections), tertiary instituitions (UC and Ara ) and in NGOs (STOP) for several years. I provided intensive post-trauma work following the Canterbury earthquakes and Masjid (mosques) tragedies.

I have been in private practice since 2006, based first at Selwyn Medical, then at Victoria Associates for many years, and now at Ilam Medical.

My practice is a mix of privately funded therapy and counselling funded by ACC sensitive claims, Family Court, Victim Support and; supervision and training for psychotherapists, psychiatrists, social workers, counsellors and psychologists.

My work is influenced by a range of psychotherapies apart from CM, such as psychoanalytical psychotherapy (Kleinian), cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, somatic ( trauma informed yoga) and other integrative therapies. I bring sound analytical skills, well-honed written and verbal expression to my work. The context is always relational and respectful of diversity - cultures, sexualities and abilities.

In addition to clinical training, I have also completed the ANZAP supervision training and provide supervision to trainee psychotherapists as a part of the ANZAP faculty. I also provide clinical, cultural and Balint group supervision to experienced colleagues and practitioners.
